The Student Research Seminar (SRS) is a key academic initiative aimed at nurturing a strong research culture among students by providing a platform to explore, analyze, and present innovative ideas across disciplines. Conducted annually, the seminar encourages students to engage in critical thinking, academic writing, and structured research presentation.

Over the years, the seminar has covered diverse and relevant themes such as Water Conservation, Women in Media, Socio-Ecological Movements, Mumbai Studies, COVID-19 Pandemic, and Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting its interdisciplinary and contemporary approach .

The seminar process includes:

Orientation & Induction Sessions to introduce research fundamentals
Lecture Series & Workshops on research methodology, data collection, analysis, and academic ethics
Paper Presentation Rounds where students present their research before expert judges
Evaluation & Feedback focusing on originality, depth of research, and presentation skills

For instance, in 2021–22, students presented research on the COVID-19 pandemic and its socio-economic impacts, with structured evaluation and awards for best papers . Similarly, recent seminars emphasize global themes like Sustainable Development Goals, promoting socially relevant research and interdisciplinary learning .

The seminar not only enhances students’ research capabilities but also prepares them for higher academic pursuits, publications, and participation in national-level research platforms.
