STUDENT GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELL

St. Andrew’s College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Bandra (West), Mumbai

About the Grievance Cell

St. Andrew’s College has established a Student Grievance Redressal Cell (SGRC) to provide a fair, transparent, and time-bound mechanism for addressing students’ grievances. The Cell functions in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2019 and the guidelines issued by the University of Mumbai for the functioning of the College Grievance Redressal Cell (CGRC). The objective of the Cell is to safeguard students’ rights and ensure that their concerns are heard and resolved in a just and impartial manner. The committee works collaboratively to ensure effective grievance redressal and adherence to institutional guidelines.

The grievance mechanism is accessible through both online and offline modes. Students are required to download the prescribed Grievance Redressal Form, fill in the necessary details, attach supporting documents if any, scan the form, and email it to sgcstandrewscollege@gmail.com. Anonymous complaints or complaints submitted by parents/guardians are not entertained, as specified in the official form.

Types of Grievances Handled

As per the University of Mumbai guidelines, the College Grievance Redressal Cell considers grievances of students related to the College/Institution. Within this broad institutional scope, grievances may pertain to matters concerning academic processes such as attendance, internal assessment, examinations, and evaluation; administrative procedures including fees, documentation, and scholarships; as well as issues relating to campus facilities and services. All grievances are entertained only when submitted through the prescribed mechanism and are processed in accordance with the statutory provisions and the principles of natural justice as mandated by the UGC Regulations. Anonymous or incomplete applications are not processed, as specified in the institutional Grievance Redressal Form.

Resolution Process

Upon receipt of a duly filled grievance form, the Member Secretary scrutinizes the application in consultation with the Chairperson. The grievance is then placed before the Student Grievance Redressal Cell for consideration. The Cell meets as required to ensure that grievances are addressed within 15 days of receipt, as recommended under the University of Mumbai guidelines. The concerned student may be allowed to present the grievance in person, and relevant departments or individuals may be asked to provide clarifications as deemed necessary. The Cell follows the principles of natural justice while deliberating upon the matter, as mandated by the UGC Regulations. Decisions are taken through the process of consensus, and the resolution is communicated to the concerned student. The minutes of the meeting and Action Taken Reports are maintained for proper documentation and transparency.

Key Features

The Grievance Redressal mechanism at St. Andrew’s College is characterized by transparency, fairness, confidentiality, and a time-bound resolution. It provides an accessible platform for students to voice their concerns and ensures that grievances are examined objectively. The Cell maintains proper documentation through minutes and reports, and follows statutory guidelines issued by regulatory authorities. A provision for appeal to the University Grievance Redressal Cell (UGRC) is available for students who might be dissatisfied with the decision of the institution’s Grievance Cell.
